Some babywearers also recommend braiding the wrap, basically knotting it over and over until the fabric softens.

Terry nappies are underrated these days! You can use them for so many things, even using them inside modern cloth nappy systems as a faster-drying method but with the stay-dry liner system of many pocket nappies. Tha’ts whatr we do anyway! I love my terries Use Snappis so you don’t have to use pins!

Great summary. When we made our decisions there was a lot less choice. But we were passed some terrys and we loved them. Used for 2 babies and needed very few disposables (even when camping!). Happy to recommend terrys to anyone considering reusable nappies.

Reusable nappies are a great idea. Not only are they more economical , they are also easier on the environment. Also, once a mother gets used to the routine of using reusable nappies, they are much more efficient than disposables. Thank you so much for your information.

Thanks for the bathing tips. Bubbles, bath gels, shampoos and baby washes can have such harsh detergents in them they can do a lot of damage to babies skin and overall health. Finding gentle cleansers with organic ingredients makes bath time so much healthier. I agree that bath time is a perfect way to create some special bonding rituals as well as teachable moments. It is also so much fun for the kids when toys are involved and they have the uninterrupted attention of a parent. Splish splash!

There are some really excellent tips here, thanks!

One idea is to buy a Christmas tree with roots and plant it in your garden (I did this last year and it is looking very healthy!). You can either dig it up the next year and bring it inside to use again, or just leave it outside and decorate with outdoor lights.

I had one of these, it was fantastic. I never bought any maternity tops at all, I used my pre-pregnancy tops and a belly band so it saved me a fortune (and gave me an excuse to buy new tops afterwards!!!). I bought a cheap belly band first, it was useless so I bought one of these which I then used everyday.

What a great idea, thanks Anne.

I have just got into the habit of cutting the tops off and washing them out and I seem to find a use for them as soon as they are dry. Storing carrots is my particular favorite as an old apple juice carton is a perfect fit in my fridge salad drawer. The carrots don’t get lost underneath things and the lining of the box seems to keep them crisp for longer.
