Attachment Parenting UK is a newly founded Community Interest Company offering resources for the growing community of parents interested in, and practicing attachment parenting principles. The website www.attachmentparenting.co.uk includes a wealth of articles, tips, events, book suggestions, personal stories and a database of support groups that advocate attachment theory and attachment parenting.
Attachment Parenting UK is committed to promoting awareness, and providing information to parents seeking leading-edge evidence-based research. Attachment Parenting UK’s founder, Michelle Mattesini, who runs an Attachment Parenting International-affiliated Support Group in Devon is especially keen to encourage the formation of new Support Groups with trained leaders throughout the UK. Michelle says “I get so many enquiries from parents feeling isolated but really committed to their parenting style and I knew we needed to come up with a UK-relevant resource for parents which reflects their needs and interests”.
The Facebook page, www.facebook.com/attachmentparentinguk features a discussion forum which aims to support parents in a welcoming, safe place offering swift responses while also furthering understanding and fostering friendships. The Blog has just been launched and there are also handouts available for free download for personal or public use. A series of postcards are in development which will soon be distributed to support groups, conferences and baby fairs and a database of AP Childcarers is in the pipeline.
Michelle took careful consideration in choosing to add an online store including books, baby carriers, co-sleeping Bednest, sleeping bags and more (co-operation board games will be coming soon). She recognises the demand for quality products that an attached family would enjoy, while happily acknowledging that one of the many advantages of attachment parenting is a decreased need for baby equipment. All profits generated through the store and donated funds will be invested in furthering the company’s mission. Join us on Facebook and help us reach the families that need our support…a happy childhood lasts a lifetime!
